BARCELONA OVERVIEW

Barcelona is the capital of Catalunya, a region of Northern Spain, with its own unique culture and traditions. The city of Barcelona is well known in recent times for the 1992 Summer Olympics games. Barcelona it's a magic city, famous for the arts attractions but well know for the amazing nightlife too. The foundation of the city of Barcelona is a mystery: some legends attribute it to Hercules, 400 years before the building of Rome, others to the Carthaginian Hamilcar Barca, father of Hannibal, in the 3rd century BC. Anyway, Barcelona became a Romans colony. The city of Barcelona is divided into 10 administrative districts, based mostly on historical divisions. Barcelona is a bilingual city: Catalan and Spanish are both official languages. It hosts nine World Heritage Sites and has a very variegate landscape with its 7 beaches, 68 parks and the city of course, with artistic and modern buildings. We can't say Barcelona without thinking to tapas, great seafood and sangria!

Barcelona is famous almost for the works of Antoni Gaudí. La Sagrada Familia is the symbol of Barcelona and the most famous Gaudí work too, but it isn't finished yet.

Parc Güell was begun by Gaudí as a real-estate but unfortunately it was never completed, now it's a public park.

La Pedrera, better known as Casa Mila, and Casa Batllò are two Gaudí buildings, loved by Dalí for their sea forms.
