MALTA OVERVIEW

The Maltese archipelago, situated in the Southern European area of the Mediterranean sea, consists of three islands: Malta, Gozo and Comino. The archipelago of Malta is considered a big open-air museum, for the signs of the past visible today.

Malta is the largest island and the cultural, commercial and administrative centre. The long relationship between the Islanders and the various nationalities that occupied Malta over the centuries has created a marriage of styles and traditions, giving the Islands a fascinating eclectic culture.

Malta gained indipendence from theUnited Kingdom in 1964 and became a Republic in 1974. Since 2004, it's a member of the European Union.
This island of Malta has an important mythological aspect: it's considered the hypothetical location for the mythical island of Atlantis and it hosts the oldest known human structures in the world. Valletta is the capital of the island. Sea, sport, islands cruise, artistic tour and nightlife: a holiday for every taste.
